How can I recreate the HelpDesk ODBC entry?
Pertinent Information:
Make sure you know what type of database HelpDesk should be connecting to (e.g. Access, SQL Server) as it is required to create an ODBC entry. If you are unsure, ask your HelpDesk system administrator.
Answer:
- Open your ODBC settings through the Control Panel (Search for "ODBC" under Windows help for additional information)
- Select the "User DSN" tab
- Select "Add"

Microsoft Access
- Select the database driver (e.g. Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) )
- Enter "HelpDesk" as the Data Source Name
- Enter a description if you so desire
- Choose the "Select" button and enter path to your "HelpDesk.mdb" Access database
- Select "Ok"

SQL Server
- Select the SQL Server database driver
- Enter "HelpDesk" under the "Name" field
- Enter a description if you so desire
- Select the server where your HelpDesk database is located (You may need to consult your system administrator for the server name)
- Select "Next"
- Select a user verification method
- Select "Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options"
- Select "Next"
- Select "Change the default database to:" and select the HelpDesk database from the list
