Applying an updated HelpDesk2.exe

Question:

I have received an updated HelpDesk Launch Utility (HelpDesk2.exe) from Resource-Dynamics.  How do I distribute this update to our HelpDesk users?

 

Answer:

In order to apply this update, each user must obtain a copy of this utility and replace the current version on his/her workstation.  We recommend placing the HelpDesk2.exe file in your HelpDesk server directory so that your users will have a shared location to retrieve it from.

 

In order to replace the previous version of the HelpDesk2.exe file, each user must locate the directory where it resides on his/her workstation.  This can be accomplished by one of the following:

  • Right-click on the HelpDesk icon (located on each user's desktop), select the 'Shortcut' tab, and browse to the directory that is listed under 'Target.'
  • From the 'Start' menu, select 'Search' and perform a search for the 'HelpDesk2.exe' file.
