V2QA000041 Switching Interface Connection
Question:
Need to change the interface from HelpDesk to another contact manager or different database
Answer:
- Make sure ALL current inquiries are finished and moved to the history queue
- Make a clean back up of your HelpDesk.mdb / TSHD32user.ini / TSHD32.ini
- Exit all users out of HelpDesk
- Delete the TSHD32user.ini file from all the workstation(s)
- Restart HelpDesk from one workstation - you will be prompted for which contact manager to connect with - follow prompts
- IMPORTANT make sure you are using a mapped drive letter to connect to the contact manager and not UNC. Make sure all workstations are using the same mapped drive letter.
- Once connected and logged in, you will need to go to Options - Settings - and add the Contact Manager Login and password for each user if applicatable
- You will need to change the Field Mappings for the contact manager and inquiry field mappings
You will NO longer have access to opening any inquiry from History except as Read Only. Once you break the link, the contact id we use from the original contact manager will no longer exist.
Once the above is completed, you can have your users start HelpDesk.
