How To verify ODBC settings

Question:

How do I verify ODBC settings for HelpDesk?

Answer:

  • Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel and open ODBC Data Sources.  In WinNT and Win2K this may be located on the Control Panel as Data Sources (ODBC) under Administrative Tools.
  • Select the User DSN tab, if it is not already selected.
  • There should be a DSN (Data Source Name) of "Helpdesk".  Double-click on the Helpdesk DSN.
  • Verify that the database path is correct.  Use the 'Select' button, if necessary.
  • Ensure that System Database is set to 'None' on all computers.

·

NOTE: Using UNC pathnames (e.g. //servername/Helpdesk 2.0/Server) can cause problems with Tele-Support Helpdesk.  Ensure that the path to the Helpdesk.mdb includes a mapped network drive (e.g. H:\Helpdesk 2.0\Server) and not a UNC pathname.
