Win2K & HelpDesk

Question:

I can't run HD on Win2K workstations:

Answer:

Things to check:

  • Make sure user has Network rights.
  • It this a Update from Win 98?  If so, and getting dll errors in HD, this may be caused by a faulty install of Win2K and the only fix known to us, as reported by MicroSoft, is to formatt hard drive and to a clean install.
  • Are you running Client Access AS/400?  If yes, is it Win2K compatiable.  Was HD working prior to installing Client Access?  Running Client Access that is not Win2K compatiable can cause the dll files to be corrupted.  Unable to determine which dll(s) are the issue, format drive and install clean.
  • On Win2K with HelpDesk version 2.0 or 2.1, make sure you are running MDAC 2.5 or better.
  • On Win2K with HelpDesk verison 2.2, make sure you are running MDAC 2.6 or better.
  • What Tele-Support HelpDesk build are you running?  If running 2.1.x.2399, there is a KI with this build. You will need to Update to latest build available for your version.
