Moving HD 2.0 or 2.1

Question:

How to move HelpDesk Server from one location to another:

Asnwer:

To move version 2.0 or 2.1 Tele-Support Helpdesk from one machine to another, you must:

  • Make a clean copy of your HelpDesk.mdb / TSHD32user.ini / TSHD32.ini / HDesk.lic files
  • Install your original version of HDServer.exe on the new location server machine
  • Copy your HelpDesk.mdb to new HelpDesk Server Folder and overwrite existing blank mdb supplied with the evaluation
  • Copy your HDesk.lic file into the HelpDesk Server Folder.
  • Copy your INI files to the HelpDesk directory
  • Reinstall the HDClient on each of the workstation.  Be sure to point to the new location using a mapped drive letter and not UNC.
  • Open the Admin Tools and check the CM Path to make sure your mapped connection is correct.

Applicable HelpDesk version(s)

2.0 & 2.1 ONLY

NOTE:  DO NOT download and install a newer version then what you are licensed, your HDeck.lic file will NOT work on version 2.2 and newer.  You will need to contact Resource Dynamcis and request an upload of the 2.1 evaluation or can purchase the 2.2 upgrade.
