Question

I need to run HelpDesk and Crystal Reports 9 on the same machine.  Trying to run HelpDesk reports either do not run, or generates an "Error: 104 Fialed to obtain Version Information from CRPE32.DLL" or "Windows Error Number 1812 - The specified image file did not contain a resource section".

Cause

Crystal Reports 9.0 was designed only for .NET reporting and does not work properly with some Windows compiled applications.

Solution

Download the attached zip file "Crystal8Dlls.zip" and unzip all of the attached files in the local client directory where the HelpDesk2.exe or HelpDesk3.exe file resides. 

Alternative

If you want to create reports using Crystal Reports version 9.x and newer, you can create the reports using the HelpDesk.mdb data, however you will need to run the reports out side of HelpDesk.
